isn't 4/4 and 12/8 supposed to be the same? not in playback
isn't 4/4 and 12/8 supposed to be the same? but instead of playback accounting for the fact that 12/8 is 4/4 in triple, its taking each eighth note literally, and slowing the music down.
is this supposed to happen musically, or is the playback misinterpreting it compared to regular?
or is it that since quarter note = 120, but 12/8 is quarter plus eighth. that's what slows down?

Your tempo is 1/4 = 120
So yes the 12/8 measure takes 1,5 the time of the 4/4 one, that's normal.
If you want the 12/8 measure to take the same time as the 4/4 one you must add a tempo indication at the beginning of the 12/8 measure saying 1 dotted quarter = 1 quarter
