CC controls for libraries?

Does MU4 [or even MU3] work with CC controls?

I found this YT video for Kontakt, which suggest that CC controls can be used for some Virtual Instrument effects - instead of key switches.

If that's possible with MU3 or MU4, then I guess tools like Touch Portal could be set up to act as Midi CC buttons.

THis isn't an area I know much about - but it would be interesting to know if this is possible.

MuseScore uses CC messages for dynamics, but there is not currently a way to send custom CC messages. You can however send keyswitches, by adding another staff and entering the necessary notes there. Future versions of MsueScore will have configurable settings for articulations and other markings to control exactly what kind of playback info they generate.

When you write "there is not currently a way to send custom CC messages" do you mean to external software or external hardware, or do you mean there isn't a way to send custom CC messages via MU4 - either to Muse Sounds, or an external VST?

At present it may be that only keyswitches are possible for external [or any VI] VST, and I've tested those already. There are at least two other methods I'm vaguely aware of to control external VSTs - CC messages for articulation and also bank switching - which may be activated also by a control message or sequence. As you suggest those CC messages can also be used to control dynamics and other aspects - such as tempo. So to summarise - can I assume that for the moment none of these methods are available, other than keyswitches, but that there are plans to have a wider repertoire of options, including CCs etc. in future MuseScore versions or updates?

Oh - following your reply in which you mention that CC messages are currently used for dynamics, does that also mean that these are not accessible by any external device or software - but only from the playback system currently implemented in MU4 [or even MU3]?

I mean, there is no way to tell MuseScore you want to create a custom CC message, period. So, it doesn't matter where you might be trying to send the message - there just isn't a way to create it. Once a way is created, then presumably it will go to the right places.

I'm not super familiar with how MuseScore uses CC for dynamics, I just that it does - as of 3.1, anyhow, when single note dynamics became a thing. Velocity is still used in some ways here and there but mostly not. But in any case, I would assume that whatever is used internally is also used for MIDI output or VST.
