Staff text/dynamic positioning is not reflected in exported file

• Jul 29, 2023 - 21:52

When writing a drumline score in MS4, I usually add what I call "double dynamics" to indicate accent and tap heights. This requires me to add two dynamics and a slash (staff text), all of which I add to the first note of the passage. Then I rearrange it to what you can see below. No matter what, the changes I make are always visible in the editor.

This has worked for me multiple times over until today. But when I export it, whether it be a PDF or a PNG, the file reverts all of the text and dynamics to their original positions, for every occurrence. Here is an example of what is seen in the exported file.

Basically, from what I can see, none of my changes with the positioning are applied in the exported file. So far, I have only tried to apply the dynamics/text to different notes. The same issue will occur, just on different notes. Any help on fixing this spontaneous glitch? Potentially an alternate solution to creating these dynamic markings? Thanks.

What I did in similar situations (example: meno f): I added the "f" to the note. Then I double clicked it to make it into a text line. I make sure the cursor is at the end of the line (with or without a blank space as required. In your case I would add the slash using the keyboard, then the "mp" by copy/pasting since I can't find the dynamics font anywhere (double click any mp in the score to highlight and copy it). And of course if you need the same combo again you just copy/paste. I have never tried to add those combos to a palette so I couldn't tell you if it works.
This way you get one "custom" dynamics (rather than three of them competing for the same square millimeter) and I think it will behave ok in the export.
