Playback- Accel/rit isn't accounting for tempo markings
Hi guys,
In Musescore 3 I had no problems using the tempo plugin to modify speeds. But in musescore 4, I find that when I add the accel marking, for example, it far exceeds the tempo markings I have placed at the beginning and end of the where accel was added. I assumed those would functions as parameters for the program to follow and it would modify the tempo accordingly. I recall doing this in the past and not having issues so I am not sure what the problem is.
I have tried the following none of which are getting me anywhere so I must be doing something wrong
- Tempo is at quarter= 82 for the piece, set accel marking across all of given measure, set tempo marking to 88 on following measure
- Set accel marking across both left and right staves to see if that helps
- In the measure where the accel is, set first note to current tempo (82) and last note of accel to targeted tempo (88)
I'd appreciate any guidance you can give me

Hi, you need to set the properties for the Accel/rit to the desired "change" you want it to make.
See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/tempo-markings#Tempo_change_lines
The default for accel. is 133%, so from 82 you will end up at 109. just before you get the next measure where the tempo will be reset to 88. If you want to go from 82 to 88, the change should be 107%.
Hope this helps.

Hi
Thank you for your response. That makes a lot of sense. I attempted to follow the instructions from your link and it looks like in my properties panel I do not have an option for Playback: General

Select the Accel. text in the score.
Select the properties tab in the Palette tool bar on the left.
Select the arrow to the left of the word General.

Thank you so much! This allowed me to locate what I needed and Henk helped me with the percentage change. Works great now!

Come for the music-making, stay for the programming and remedial math.
