Copy paste concern

Hi!
ive just downloaded musescore but im struggling with the copy paste
I think my shift key might be bound to something else inside of muse score because im unable to use any of the copy paste functions in the guide i saw for copy paste on the musescore website

On Windows:

  • Select the first note or measure, hold down the Shift key, and then select the last note or measure of the section - using the mouse.
  • Or select the first note and move to the last note with the right arrow key while holding down the Shift key.

I can't believe the Shift key is tied to other things. Does it work in other applications? Yes, it must, because you also wrote your question with capital letters.
Or have you changed the MuS key combinations in any way?

Here's an unlikely guess.

Go to View>Selection filter. In the selection filter is everything checked?

And another question to help diagnosis. If you click on a note or rest and then hold shift and click on another note or rest do you see a blue rectangle surrounding the two points you clicked on?
