replace pdf error message

Just wondering if replacing a pdf while saving producing an error is a known issue. I get the appropriate prompt that file exists, do I want to resave, but when I click yes, generic error message suggests 'retry' or 'abort'. multiple retries results in the same generic error message. (Using Windows on a Dell laptop)I
