Simple HOW TO, on Dynamics, I read the manual
The manual says click on a dynamic i.e. mp and drag it to a note.
Or, click on a note and then click on the dynamic.
When I drag the "mp" to the note it disappears.
I think it has to do with what "mode" I'm in, but I don't know how to tell the mode.

Safer to not drag anything from a palette.
If you don't know what mode you are in, you can click on a blank spot in the score. That can clear everything (except note input mode). Then open the dynamics palette, select the note where you want the dynamic to go and then click on the dynamic.
