Instruments cut out during playback in v4.1.1
Every so often during playback one or more instruments cut out. This also occurs in the mp3 export. I would revert to v3 except the score is no longer editable in v3.

Thanks. All I was able to do as suggested by that link was select an Audio Device other than System Default and increase buffer size, which fixed my playback problems.
However I can't see "the speaker icon in the taskbar".

In the search area on the left of the task bar, type "con", and select "control panel" You might need to change the icon size to be able to see everything. Select the "sound" icon (speaker).
