library of clips
I'd like to have a clip library that I am working on, multiple objects of sequences of notes or small phrases that I can copy and paste, save one, replace with another, etc.
Into and out of a main score that I am working on.
I could maybe do this by opening two scores, copy and paste between them. But
What is the EASIEST way to accomplish this?

As you have suggested "by opening two scores, copy and paste between them"
You could do it with just the one score by reserving a section (say 100 measures at the end) to copy/past to/from. But with two scores you can more easily save and re-use your snippets with other scores at other times.
