When does musescore 4 save a file when you hit File|Save?
I'd spent an inordinate amount of time lying out parts for my 9 piece arr. and meticulously saved frequently to preserve my labor. On the final part musescore 4 crashed but I smugly though since I'd saved often that the previous eight parts layout would be intact. Not the case! Nothing in my layouts was saved even in the hidden file in the hidden directory. So when does ms4 commit to disk?
Thanks

I just discovered multiple parts for each instrument. Totally confused.

Don't know why this happens but I deleted the extra parts and reset the remainder. Is this OK? BTW best to save under a different filename periodically rather than just opening and closing the same file and hoping nothing goes wrong.

Agreed. Save As. with a new version number after the title.

I thought File|Save would automatically commit the current file to disk. I learned a valuable lesson today. Thanks.

It might well commit it to disk but it will commit any mistakes you have made, internal score corruptions, errors in unzipping the file when it openend, zipping the file back up and closing it. All this can happen with a new filename, of course, but at least you have a previous working file that will hopefully only need a little bit of work to make up for anything lost.
