playback has echo
the playback somehow has an echo where the first note doesn’t stop and then it ends up in a cacophonous stream. this never happened to me before and i’ve used and enjoyed MU4 a lot. thanks for any help i can get.

could you upload the score please?
I'm guessing you have a MIDI loop - the output of MuseScore being routed (via Edit / Preferences / I/O) to some device or program that is then feeding this back into MuseScore.

Actually it was happening with MS basic and when I switched to Muse Sounds it stopped. i have no idea why...

In that case, I'll guess your score has a bogus piano pedal marking somewhere that is being misinterpreted in MS Basic but ignored in Muse Sounds. Or it could be some other marking like arco that just doesn't make sense for whatever instrument you are writing for. If you attach your score, we can investigate.

the score is rather large and very incomplete. is there a way i could find it? the only instrument on it is flute. i do appreciate your reply very much
Do you have any slide-outs or the like in the score? I have seen them cause the problem you describe.
