Display for Position and Tempo

• Oct 26, 2023 - 23:06

I just upgraded to the latest MS4 version (OS: Windows 10 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.1.1-232071203, revision: e4d1ddf) and wondeer, why I can't see the display/controls for position and tempo.
In my case the display looks like screenshot 1 and not like shown in the documentation (https://musescore.org/de/node/329738#play-position-and-tempo), so I'm unable to control the tempo.

BTW: I still have MS3 installed but it crashes on startup. Where can I reset the current list of open scores? :-)

Cheers
Ansgar

Nevertheless I‘m not sure, I support the design decision to move the control for tempo into this 2nd level GUI.

Agreed. Sometimes it seems like: "Change for the sake of change".
And so: "Muahaha... Let's hide the position and tempo controls into a second level... oh yea, and also eliminate the count-in feature."

Alas, mine is not to reason why... ;-)

As I recall, this was a simple oversight, actually. It was left out of the original MU4 design because it also hidden away in a special separate window in MU3 (the Play Panel, which isn't shown by default). Once the oversight was detected, it was added back in that detached version simply because the design for the main toolbar was already settled.

So it's always being a second-level thing, it's just a different second-level thing now. There are proposals in place to move it into the main toolbar for the first time, and I suspect we'll see that in a future release.
