I am unable to 'play' my scores.
Musescore was working earlier today, but while trying to find a way to edit the system and staff text, my ability to play the scores ceased. I have uninstalled MuseScore and reinstalled it and the problem remains. Please help.

Reinstall never helps anything. What happens when you hit play. does the playback bar move? Do yo have an external audio device. Did you plug or unplug headphones during this session?
What version are you using? Do your scores load, and can you see them up there on the screen?
