Export MSCX files in MuseScore 4

• Oct 31, 2023 - 10:19

I play in a band and with MuseScore 3 I have been able to export .mscx files which I then send as email attachments to another member of the band who might want to adjust or add to the the score. These .mscx files retain all the details and layout of the scores I have created when my colleague opens the email attachments I have sent him. In MuseScore 4 it appears I can only export .musicxml files. These files do not reproduce all of these details, (letters in chord symbols have disappeared, bar layout on the page has changed and text has moved to name a few things). Am I missing something or will this be addressed in future updates? For now I am happy to keep using MuseScore 3 in order to retain this particular function.

Instead send the .mscz files, they do contain everything.
These .mscx files never contained everything, in Mu3 you'd loose images, in Mu4 though you additionally loose style settings, generated parts and their formatting, sound settings and view settings

Thanks Jojo, I have tried the .mscz files as you suggest, and yes they have all the information, with the exception of the chord letters it seems, so Cm7 will appear as m7 for example. Anyway it doesn't take long to correct. However the .mscx files retain all the information I have sent or they appear to as I don't have images included, so this is good enough for my particular use.
