MusicXML Not Opening

I'm trying to import a musicxml file of about 7.8 MB, and it's not opening. I've tried the compressed form of the file too, it doesn't work either. I've tried restarting the software, the mac, I've checked the file for corruption and stuff like that and there is none. Is this a software problem or is it specific to me? Any ways I can resolve it?
