MuseScore won't install on M2 Mac Mini

• Dec 13, 2023 - 16:59

I downloaded and installed MuseHub after upgrading from an Intel-based Mac Mini to a new M2 model. When I try to install MuseScore I get an error saying I need to install Rosetta. Does MuseScore NOT support Apple Silicon?

Thanks!

If I understand the architecture for running Musescore; Musescore runs under QT emulation which uses Rosetta. Now I am running the current version of Sonoma on a M1 MacBook Pro. Musescore 4.2 will run. I do have the following issues. Sometimes on starting 4.2 it it will go into Force Quit mode. Sometimes right click on the app icon and 4.2 will open. When I am done and Quit 4.2 the app always dumps. Looking at the dumps it appears to be a QT issue using Rosetta emulation. Hope this helps.
