Entering text note prior to the verse number in lyrics

Just want to make sure that I am not missing something here...
I am trying to place text prior to the verse number. (See the picture for an example of how I would like it to work). Any text entered in addition to the numeral indicating the verse number throws off the beautiful alignment. I managed to get the picture below by adding a system text box and then dragging into the approximate position. Looks good, but any formatting changes will throw it off over time.
Is there another approved method for entry of this text?
