When re-entering note input mode on drumset, remember the note originally selected

When writing drum lines, I often find myself exiting note input mode to make some edits, then re-entering and attempting to place a new note (a kick drum, for example) only to find that the note I had selected before has been unselected, and I now need to go down and select it again.
A minor grievance, but when writing intricate drum parts, can be a pain.
P.S. If I'm overlooking something that makes this a non-issue, please educate me.
