How to remove all manual adjustments?

• Feb 16, 2024 - 21:11

Good day all! I've just finished cutting and pasting six music xml files (exported from Finale) into a single musescore file. Having read a few arguments both for and against doing this while searching the forum for an answer to this question, please trust that in this case it was the correct action to take!

Unfortunately many notes ended up with their stems facing the wrong direction, and hairpins in odd places, and flipped slurs and ties. While at least some of that is from the normal loss of formatting in the xml format, I know that there were at least some manual adjustments to such things on the finale end, since I did them in the first place (but I digress.)

Is it possible to "select all" and somehow eliminate all the weird formatting? In other words, to reset everything to how musescore would naturally display these elements? Or did it already try to do that while interpreting the xml file? While I didn't spot anything in the menus which seemed applicable (looking for "remove manual adjustments from selection" or something similar,) that doesn't mean I didn't just miss it.

Even if this isn't possible in my case (xml file import) it may be useful for folks to know how to accomplish this if they started off with a musescore file in the first place and just didn't like visually what they produced after tweaking various item placements.

I'm fine with fixing everything one item at a time, but an existing shortcut would be wonderful, if it exists. Thank you!

V/R Ken S.

PS - For those who are wondering, I'm migrating all my music from Finale on Windows10 to MuseScore on Linux Mint so I no longer have to maintain 2 operating systems for one program.
