Add / Tuplet / Other does not not work

• Feb 18, 2024 - 13:23

In a piece I'm currently engraving, I need a 14th tuplet in the time of one quarter note, see below.

While it's clear how to insert an "unusal" tuplet, i.e. Add -> Tuplets -> Other, the window shown in the handbook pops up

for a second or less and then disappears.

Is this a bug?

A work around to create a "substitute" is to use a Septuplet in the time of 1/8 note

Is this the best option?

I'm using
OS: Windows 10 Version 2009 or later, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.2.1-240230937, revision: d757433
on Windwos 11, 32 GB Ram and 2 TB SSD

This works fine for me. Is it possible you are accidentally clicking something, or that your mouse is sending spurious clicks? Is the behavior any different if you use the tuplet button on the toolbar instead of the Add menu? How about if you define a custom shortcut for this command in Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts?

No, there is no difference, the behaviour is exactly the same. You see the window for less than a second, then nothing.

Regarding a shortcut, i can try it later but on the other hand, it's not likely if I ever will use it again. I assume that if I get it correct once, by whatever means, I can just C&P the measure for the remaining measures and correct the pitch afterwards.

Sorry, after the afternoon nap and restart of the computer, it seems that it's working again. Don't ask me why because, as far as I knew, i didn't do anything except the restart of the computer.

Anyway, now I get the following
