Unwanted rests
OS: macOS 10.15, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.2.1-240230937, revision: d757433
Hi all,
Learning MuseScore by transcribing a score.
Can any tell me why I am seeing an awful lot of rests (circled) - none of which I've put in.
How can I stop MuseScore doing this?
Many thanks.

Those rests are in voice 1. Voice 1 must always be present and therefore the rests can't be deleted. For some reason you have used voice 2 to enter your notes. You should always start by using voice 1 and only use other voices if you need them. Go to the Tools menu and exchange voice 1 and 2. The rests will then be in voice 2 and can be deleted.
See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/working-multiple-voices for when and how to use multiple voices

TY. Yup, I started by using voice one, but by the tme a couple of bars were done, there were rests all over the place. Nothing like the original score. By using voices, most of the rests disappeared. Sticking to voice one results in an absolute mess.
The original from Musescore.com is below. Has the author, simply stripped out all of the rests to make it readable?
Thank you.

Only measure 10, top staff, needs more than voice 1.
And even than, just voice 1 and 2, not a 3rd one like you apparently used (in measure 10)
