synchronization of long instrument names between Staff/Parts properties pop-up menu and Parts window

If one wishes to change the names of instruments that show up in exported parts, instrument names have to be changed via the Parts window. Now someone might very well change the names of the instruments in the score by directly clicking the instrument text on the score, and changing the long/short instrument names in the Staff/Part properties box that pops open. But if that someone doesn't change the instrument names in the Parts window, exported parts will have the original instrument names chosen during score setup.

What I'm requesting is if the interface could become a bit more friendly/universal and automatically synchronize the Parts window instrument names with the long instrument names defined in the Staff/Parts properties. Is there a reason why these two items can be defined separately? I'm using ver 4.2.1 on Mac.
