Musescore 4.3 keeps reverting to 4.0

• May 25, 2024 - 18:31

I installed the recent 4.3 update, but it keeps reverting to the previous version. I've tried uninstalling and installing the whole thing, and I've tried installing it again through MuseHub. I've also tried installing it without MuseHub. Each time it keeps reverting to a previous version. When it does this I click Help>Check for Update and download the newer version, which it seems to do fine. But when I come back to it the next day it has reverted. I must have done it 10 times.

Any ideas?

Edit: I'm running macOS Sonoma 14.4.1

I just made a similar post, same issue, then noticed yours (aarrgghh). It looks like we are both running macOS 14.4.1.

I noticed this issue within a day or so of installing MuseScore Studio 4.3.0, and have been struggling with it for a few weeks now.

I'm having the same exact issue! It's very frustrating when I want to open a saved score and I don't have wifi. It won't let me unless I update to 4.3 every single time. I am running macOS Monterey 12.6

Updating to MuseScore Studio 4.3.1seems to have fixed this issue for me. When updating, I selected the option to keep both versions, but I don't know if that's what made the difference.

Edit: I spoke too soon. Updating to 4.3.1 didn't fix the problem.

This also happens to me on windows 10.
I install 4.3.1 and then it works while the computer is turned on,
but after any rebbot or sw off/ sw on, 4.1 is back.

I'm having the same issue on macOS Sonoma 14.5. Very irritating. I tried renaming the application in the applications folder, but no luck. Just seems like we need to deal with it for now.

I am also running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1. It seems that whenever MuseHub is open, it will force MuseScore to revert to 4.0 every time it is reopened. I think I fixed the problem by closing MuseHub after I close MuseScore and not reopening it until I launch MuseScore again.

I run the latest Musecore Studio version on macOS Monterey and had this problem. Version 4.3.1 installed and then reverting back to 4.3.0. I tried all sorts of options mentioned in other posts but couldn't get it resolved. Then I tried this: Completely remove MuseHub, so not just the app but all it's associated files. I used "Appcleaner" for that. Then install Musehub fresh. Until now the problem seems to have been gone. Maybe somewhere in the associated files that belong to Musehub old information keeps popping up.
