2nd verse different melody in lead sheet format
I write music using the jazz lead sheets. Just chord symbols and melody. In some pieces the 2nd verse has essentially the same structure as the first verse so there will be a repeat back to the beginning that section. There may be a few spots where I will use a different note for increased dynamics the second time though. How do I do this so that the play back on the second time through plays the new notes?
Simply using a second voice does not really do it as it plays both voice each time through.
I am avoiding using second endings etc as I try to keep these popular song style music to one or two pages.
On one hand I want it to play back for me on my PC while I practice it. I want to use the same sheet to print out to give to others for play along and jam session setting.
Is this possible, and if so, how?
Thanks, Frank

The only way that you could do anything like this would be to use two different score files. Score 1 is for display/print: it has repeats and the different notes for the second verse perhaps shown as cue notes. Score 2 is for playback: it has the repeats "unrolled" and the different notes for the second verse explicitly in the score ... only in the second verse.
Obviously not easy to keep the two versions in synch if changes are made. But this is as close as you can come to what you are describing.
