Percussive Guitar Sounds Addition to Instruments

• Jun 6, 2024 - 22:02

This may be a feature request.

I find that the sounds available to mimic guitar body percussion sounds are very limited. There is an area in MuseScore / MS Basic / Guitar Sounds Volume 1 where one should be able to find these sounds but I don't really find any like I expect to find in this section.

For some context, I have a score that requires percussive guitar body sounds but none of the sounds available in the Instruments section (in particular "percussion body" section) represent the common percussive guitar body sounds that are in use in the world. I've included a screenshot that will hopefully show you what I mean. Percussion - Body.png

It seems to me that there should be a much longer list of sounds in the "percussion - body" section, which I assume refers to "guitar body".

Given the lack of sounds commonly representing guitar body percussion, I am wondering if it is possible to add to the list of sounds... or add a whole new instrument section devoted to this type of percussion.

I hope somebody knows what I am talking about. And they know a solution to my issue. :)

thanks,

Peter

I added a post yesterday on this topic as well and I included an example score section that has a single percussion measure in it in which I used woodblock sounds to mimic the percussive guitar sound and as you can see, it does not well represent an acoustic guitar body percussive sound.

Actually, the reference is to the human body.
If you have MuseScore 3 available, I can attach a file which includes taps on a guitar body.
(MuseScore 4 didn't play nice with it.)
