Playback Bandwidth

Can the settings be changed so playback uses up less bandwidth? The longer I work on a score, the more the playback is affected, particularly the first bar: Sometimes the rhythms are incorrect, and sometimes the first few notes are omitted completely.

I'm using MuseScore Studio 4.3.2 on a MacBook Air running Sonoma 14.5.
