Automatically counting notes and rests in a selection?

I am a musically-illiterate newcomer, trying to write a song using your wonderful program. It occurred to me that the first line in the first stanza should have the same number of notes (including rests) as the first line in the second stanza. The same with the second lines, and so on. I know how to count the notes and rests. And I find that, in my song, those two first lines match: each line adds up to 1 full note plus 13 sixteenths. But the counting takes time and it's easy to make a mistake.
So, my question is: is there a way to select a certain line or phrase in the song and have Musescore count the number of notes and rests in that selection? For example, I would select a particular instrument -- let's say Piano -- Treble Cleff -- from here to there. Click on a counting tool -- How many notes in that selection? Options for how to handle chords?
I'm guessing that it is a lot more complicated than I can even imagine?
