Unable to find a soudfont from Musehub

• Aug 7, 2024 - 10:23

When Musehub was released, I downloaded the new version of Musescore (now Musescore Studio) and the soundfonts of musesounds, but one day, they were removed. I downloaded them again and right now it looks like everything is all right, but right now I am editing a score with a brass part and I need the brass sounfont. Even though I have it downloaded, it doesn't appear as an option like the others. I don't know if this is a bug or a human error. In any case, I hope anybody can help me or tell me where I commited a error.

I am attaching some screenshots so you can see everything more clear.

Indeed, the new Hub is a bit odd. I'm not sure I like it at all. I spent a few hours yesterday trying to get it to work. I did finally.
Here is my suggestion for you to try. Open the Hub. Go to the free sounds section. The selection area for Brass has to sections. The left half has a check mark because it thinks the brass fonts are there. The right half has a down arrow. Select it and select "Uninstall". Then Install the Brass font.

Sounds odd, I know. Read on if you want to know why this works.

One of my computers is an older one that had 4.2 and the old Hub. I wanted to update it. So I went to Musehub.com and downloaded the new hub. Running the installer updated MU4. I went to the sounds section. But before updating, I looked around to see what else was there. It seems all the new Hub wants to do is sell me stuff. Disappointing. Anyway when I went back to instruments I got an error. Closed and terminated the Hub. Reopened. Same thing. Restarted the computer. Same thing. Uninstall Hub. Run various cleaners. Reinstall Hub and finally was able to go to Muse Sounds. Here things start (?) to get murky. I tried so many things, I'm not sure of the order of events. I loaded a score. Basic w/w sounds were loaded instead of Muse. I looked and as in your case, woodwinds were in the proper folder. MU4 could not see them. At some point, the Hub said I did not have other sounds downloaded. Which I had. Nothing was making any sense. So, in the Hub, I selected uninstall for each font, regardless of it saying it was there or not. Then I reinstalled all fonts.

Finally that worked. Again, I'm not saying you need to reinstall everything. Just the brass.

Sad that about 80 percent of what is on the Hub now is trying to get me to buy something. Convenient for those interested. But...
