A way to double-dot a note withouth adding an entire panel to the app?

Is there a shortcut key for double-dotting a note please? The only way I can see to double-dot in the forums is to add the 'note entry' panel to the interface, which wastes a centimeter of vertical space for one button. I can't drag this panel next to the play panel.
