Problem printing - things go missing
Hello,
I've hit a problem with printing out MuseScore generated sheet music. Things go missing. I wondered if anyone else has encoutered this?
I'm making a MuseScore file and exporting it to pdf. Then I'm dropping it into InDesign, and exporting the InDesign file to pdf. The resulting pdf is all fine on screen, but when I print it (HP OfficeJetPor 7740), things have got lost: many bar numberings, many guitar chords, some rests - but never all. Always just most or a few.
Any ideas what's happening? I can upload the final pdf but you'd have to print it to see what's wrong.

If you print the score directly from Musescore, does the problem persist?
Try exporting svg instead of pdf in Musescore. I think Indesign should support svg import too.

Hooray. Fixed. Thanks very much. Exporting to svg and dropping that into InDesign fixes the issue. I've got all my guitar chords back. Should have thought of that. Thanks!
Why do you need to export to pdf again using InDesign? Seems like an unnecessary step to me.

Because I'm dropping the music into a book. Indesign is the programme for the the page make up, which has many other design elements and content in it. I can't do any of those things in MuseScore.

Ah that is making sense. Guess there could be something happening to embedding the font in the pdf. Maybe InDesign has an option to include/embed the full font.
Maybe it needs the MS fonts to be installed at system level for that to work. Not sure.
Maybe it is the resolution being used for printing?
Not at home at the moment, so can't print your pdf to test.
Are you also using InDesign to print the pdf?
I had someone reporting once that he could not print correct (not sure which default software he used) and then he switched to Acrobat Reader and the printing was fine.

Thanks, Henk. Exporting to svg from MuseScore has fixed it. I think you're right about the embedding being the problem. I'm just so used to working with pdfs and have always found them so stable, and have never found that issue before. I didn't think to try svg, but it is the solution.
