Separate out combined Soprano-alto part into 2 separate parts - easily

• Oct 17, 2024 - 18:56

I construct choral audio files by 1) digitzing pdf files via playscore2, 2) using musescore to correct (piano/vocal), set tempo, dynamics, and write out audio files by part or combined vocal/piano part. Almost always soprano and alto (SA) are one line/part in treble clef and ditto for tenor-bass (TB). So, easy to construct a combined SA or TB audio file. I want to easily separate them out to get individual S or A audio files. Also, SA not labeled part "1" for soprano and part "2" for alto, so mixed or all one. To do this, I have to construct and copy SA part to a new SA part and then delete undesired notes in each to separate S notes into original and A notes into copied part. Time consuming. I don't think musecore has easy way to do this.

I'd like musescore to take a vocal instrument part (SA combined), assign high note to soprano part and lower or remaining notes to alto part. That would solve all my remaining problems using musecore for this purpose.

Thanks for any feedback /development on this issue!

Are you using, for example, voice 1 for soprano and voice 2 for alto? Then they can be separated or combined as needed.

Hi, if I understand correctly (I'm French), you start with a PDF, you work it and you have a single part for both Soprano and Alto (for example) you want 2 séparate audio file....... you can use the "explode" tool . With it, with your single double part, you will have 2 separate staves . You can have the 2 audio file (single ) with each stave.

You can also, use "VOICES" when you are with your 2 single parts, in giving voice 1 for Soprano and voice 2 for alto . When is done, you can use the "inplode" tool to group the 2 staves in only one with 2 voices with stems up and down . When is done , you can listen or make an audio file , of the 2 voices or of only one , by using the section filter
