Bar Numbering
I'm writing for a specific instrument. I'm up to bar 24 say and then there are eight (8) bars of rest indicated by an 8 over bar 25. When I start to add notes in the piece at "bar 26", how do I change the bar numbering from 26 to 33 please so that the total number of bars in the piece are registered.

Normally, you would enter 8 actual blank measures and combine them by turning on the multi-measure rests as described in the MuseScore 4 Handbook at Measure rests and multimeasure rests. This would keep this part in sync with the other parts.
If you will never include the other parts, modify the measure number in the Measure Properties. Right-click on blank space in the measure after the gap. From the context menu, click Measure Properties. Under Other put the appropriate number ("8" in this case?) into the Add to measure number field.
