Grey shading across top line

• Oct 31, 2024 - 19:03

I have managed to create a score where the top line of the music starts in the grey shaded area of the page. I have no idea how I did this! It extends across every page. As a result, the treble clef part of the organ is in grey and the bass clef part of the organ is in white. I tried changing the page settings but that doesn't resolve the problem. It is most frustrating and I think this problem is also affecting my ability to fix other problems I am having with this score. How do I push the music down into the white area? Or do I need to pull the white area up above the music??
Many thanks for your help.
Chris

In the PAGE SETTINGS there is something called SCALING STAVE SPACE which was set to 0.069in so I set it to 0.001in which was the lowest value possible. Unfortunately this resulted in the entire score shrinking to an unreadable size so I set it to 0.021in which was the highest value I could use to keep the score below the grey scale.
Many thanks for all your help!

Read the previous posts again.

You are looking and changing things in the wrong place.

Click on the edge of the frame and look in the properties tab on the left of the window. In there adjust the Offset

Don't do anything in the Page settings.
Don't set the scaling to a very small value. The scaling is used as the basis for sizing everything on the page.

"I looked in the Properties tab but there was no OFFSET option."

EITHER:
1. Select the Vertical Frame which holds title, subtitle, composer.
2. In the Properties tab, click the Appearance button.
3. Look for the Offset section for horizontal and vertical offset, click the Reset icon (curly arrow).

OR (quicker):
1. Select the Vertical Frame which holds title, subtitle, composer.
2. Press Ctrl+R (the hotkey for Format > Reset shapes and positions )
