The hi-hat open symbol will repeatedly appear incorrectly when I write a new note after write a hi-hat open cymbol

• Nov 14, 2024 - 13:35

When I want to write an open hihat symbol, I select an already written hihat symbol in the drum score, and then click on the "Open" symbol in the "Articulations" to add a circle on the hihat symbol (fig 1), but when I select another arbitary note in the note selection panel below, a circle inexplicably appears on that note (fig 2-4). This makes me very confused.

Articulations are "sticky" in musescore. During note entry they remain in force until you toggle them off. Sometimes this is useful - entering a passage that is all staccato, for example, sometimes not useful - your case for example. But it has to be one way or another - you can't please all of the people all of the time!

You may find it easier to enter without the articulation, then make a list selection of all the notes that you want to apply the articulation by holding CTRL and cllicking each one in turn and then clicking on the articulation to apply it to all the selected notes.
