Adding Pauses with "0" not working consistently on MacOS 15.1

• Nov 19, 2024 - 17:22

OS: macOS 15.1, Arch.: arm64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.4.3-242971445, revision: eb6b367

Reproduce:
1. In a score, select a full bar pause
2. change the note length to 1/4 note (key 5)
3. Hit "0" on the keyboard.
4. Hit "B" on the keyboard.

Expected behaviour: The bar should start with a 1/4 pause, and then there should be a "b" as second symbol in the bar.

Currently: There is no pause, and the "b" is the first symbol in the bar.

Please advise if this is a bug, or whether the method of inserting a pause has changed.

Comments

The correct term for this "pause" is "rest" (as Jojo stated).

You have omitted a step: step 2 below. Try this:

  1. In a score, select a full-measure rest.
  2. Press N to enter note input mode.
  3. Press 5 to set note duration to quarter note.
  4. Press 0 to enter a quarter rest.
  5. Press B to enter a quarter note B.

This will result in the first two quarter notes in the measure being rest, then B.

If your goal is to stay out of Note Entry mode and convert a whole measure so there's a rest on beat 1 and then a B note on beat 2, here's another approach:

     • select the whole measure rest
     • press q q (each q will halve the value of the rest)

Result: You're measure will contain two quarter rests and a half note rest

     • right arrow to select the second note
     • press b
