Grand staff for only part of a score

I often have occasion to create a score that has grand staff for a particular passage or portion of the piece, especially when there is rhythmic counterpoint between two instruments or sections. The rest of the score only requires a leadsheet - single staff. I'd like to eliminate the double staff where half of it is blank..
