not able to seperate bass drum from other parts in measure
I am struggling to write a drum part because after I have dropped in my bass & snare drums pattern and then add Hi Hats stems all point down and connect to the bass drum, and if I use the flip direction tool it messes up the bass drum notes

It is not clear exactly what problem you are describing. However, I think you may be needing to use a separate voice for the bass drum.
