How do you tie the note at the end of a repeat to the first note of the measure that is getting repeated?
In the pictures below I am trying to tie the F-sharp near the end repeat to the F-sharp near the start repeat.
Note: The end repeat and start repeat aren't adjacent to each other.

I've heard of tying invisible grace notes to the notes to make it look like you are supposed to tie them and while that works visually, I want to know if there is a way for it to work for playback.
See How to create ties leading into a 2nd ending
The documented workarounds are the only solution for now, but this will be supported 'properly' as a feature in 4.5.

That's why that How To mentions:
Some workarounds to ensure correct notation and improved playback of ties leading to a Volta 2nd ending.
