Writing and sounding pizzicato in the instrument option 'bowed strings'.
Writing for bowed strings - there doesn't seem to be a way of making pizzicato which is quite often needed. An mf hemi-demi-semi-quaver just doesn't do the trick. Switching to the plucked strings option for just a few notes, often with bowed notes needed at the same time, was impossible. (I'm only semi-computer-literate, regret.)

Go to the Palettes on the left side of your screen. Select Text. Select the note where you want the pizz to start. Click on "pizz."

For MuseScore 2, the pizz. text is not sounded automatically (as in MuseScore 4). MS2 requires an extra step to manually change the channel to pizzicato.

Ah, OK. No need to update.
