Upbeat:
When setting up the score, you will come to a point where you will be able to select the upbeat. However, you must always click "Next" to do this, find the page where you can specify the number of measures (bars) and when you click on it, you can select "create pickup measures".
If your score is already written, you can shorten the current length of the measure in the measure properties. However, copy the notes first, as the measure will be shortened from the right-hand side.
Empty bars:
Not at all in the score, here must all instrumets have rests. But in the excerpts of the individual parts with Ctrl+Shift+M.
