[Question] How to change colors of things?

Every time I look up how to change the color of a note (or any element) they say to "open the inspector with f8, go to properties, and there's a color palette at the top". Except I'm not seeing any color palettes in ANY of the menus in properties. Where can I find the color option?

I was able to make a border around some text and THEN a color option for the border appeared. I made it red, but now all new note heads that I create are red. How do I fix this?

Update: I found the appearance button, but when I click the notehead, select another color, and hit "okay" it doesn't do anything. It's still red

Issue resolved: The notes I was making were determined by the software to be too low for a bass guitar, which is why they were all red.
