MS4 keeps leaving out hyphens/dashes on some of my lyrics. The word many should be man-y. I get man y (no dash.) Same with other words. Does MS4 see the first syllable as it's own word and therefore won't hyphenate it? Has anyone else had this problem? Other words are hyphenated (dan-gers), etc.

One possible explanation is that MuseScore won't display the hyphen in certain circumstances where the notes are very close together. I predict that if you use a System Break (in the Layout palette or panel) to make the system shorter (and thus, the measures longer), you'll see that the hyphen is there, just not displaying when there's little room.

If that's not what you see, attach your score (the .MSCZ file) and we can take a closer look at it. If you don't know How To attach a file, click the link. Also, please identify your computer's operating system and version, and MuseScore's version. You can get all three simultaneously by clicking on Help / About MuseScore from the main menu. Then click the copy button (two pieces of paper) next to the "Build" number. Paste that into your post.

[A few moments later] Another possible explanation is that you simply typed a space instead of a hyphen. I'm assuming that's not the case here, but it's possible. :-)
