Recent update causes rhythmic irregularities/change of sound sets

• Apr 7, 2025 - 20:35

Hi everyone,

I have a student who is using this and dutifully inputting all their guitar tab, drum parts and saxophone parts. All was going well, drums sounding fine no issues with the tab. Previously we had version 4.0 in school and then about a week ago I asked our IT dept to update the machines to make life easier. Unfortunately it has had the following knock on effect on this pupils score. I can assure you that the pupil has not changed settings as we spent over an hour "fixing" the problem so it wouldn't reoccur, only to happen again when it opens up. The issues are:

  • Drum sounds changed from standard rock kit to an orchestral one
  • Guitar part has changed small rhythmic errors, compare bars 1-2 to bars 3-4. Bars 3 and 4 are the correct version.
  • The same rhythmic issues happen across the score in numerous parts

I need a rapid solution to this as the student has a deadline for the end of the week! Can not upload the original file due to exam restrictions

Without the score (.MSCZ file), there is no way to assist beyond guessing wildly. If the student can create a snippet of the file that demonstrates the issue, that would be sufficient.

In addition, have the student identify the computer's operating system and version, and MuseScore's version. You can get all three simultaneously by clicking on Help / About MuseScore from the main menu. Then click the copy button (two pieces of paper) next to the "Revision" number. Paste that into your post.

Interesting issue! I’ve run into similar quirks when things don’t respond the way you expect—kind of like pulling the lever at a slot machine and not hitting the combo. Sometimes, just like at https://casino-ellada.gr/ it’s about experimenting and finding the right rhythm. Try reloading the SoundFont and double-checking the mixer settings. Persistence always pays off, whether in music composition or chasing a lucky streak. Hope you hit the right note soon!
