Docs on MIDI Remote Control

• Oct 31, 2014 - 22:14

Hi all,

just dloaded the version 2 beta. Can someone point me to where the MIDI Remote Control feature is documented? I'd like to give it a try but can't find anything that explains how it works.

Thanks!

2.0 is still in beta, which means among other things that documentation has mostly not been written yet.

I believe the freature you are referring to is a way of assigning "keybaord shrotcuts" to controls on your MIDI keyboard. So that you don't have to switch to pressing mouse buttons or keys on your computer in order to select a new duration, for instance. To use this feature, first turn on the checkbox, then press the "Record" button (the button to the right) for the command to which you want to assign a shortcut, then press the button on your MIDI keyboard that you want to act as the shortcut. Something like that. Experiment and if you find it is other than I suggested, report back if you can.

Got it, I was wondering how you assigned those values.

So after spending a few with it, the assignment function appears to work great. The only thing I notice that's strange is when I try to enter chords from the midi kybd. When I hold down a 2 note chord, it breaks it up into 2 separate notes. When I hold a 3 note chord, it breaks it up into a single note followed by a 2 note chord, and so on. I found a way around this though. Say I assign the whole note interval to the highest C note. If I press that assignment key and then play a chord, it's recorded properly.

This is a very cool feature for those of us that don't want to jump back and forth from MIDI kybd to laptop kybd. I'll keep playing and report anything else interesting back that I find.
