Is the paper in your printer the same size as the formatted page? If you have an A4 score but letter-size paper you won't see the footer.

yes, score is A4, and I can change to "letter", and it prints fine.
BUT now many more Qs:
1)The concept of an "A4 score" does not make any sense. Page size is not a property
of a music score. Key is a property, tempo is a property, etc.
2) How does one change the "default?" I dont want to open10,20,etc scores to change paper size.
3) I've never had to do this in YEARS of using Musescore.
4) Dont tell me Musescore is sucking up some default from my printer. Ive had same HP network printer for 10 yrs and never changed any settings anywhere.
Most frustrating. We are in USA. Some default should recognize that we use 8.5x11.

>1)The concept of an "A4 score" does not make any sense.
Of course it makes lots of sense. A "score" is a printed document and Musescore is a WYSIWYG program, it HAS to know what is the target print size for correct formatting.
>2) How does one change the "default?"
There is no "default" for already finished scores. There is a default for a NEW score, actually it is Letter. Maybe the Page Size is also set when importing an old score from a previous version. Check it out!
>4) Dont tell me Musescore is sucking up some default from my printer.
No, Musescore does not know your printer. I used to work with Capella for many years, Capella indeed was looking for a printer setup.
>Most frustrating. We are in USA. Some default should recognize that we use 8.5x11.
Come on, the default is Letter. I am in Europe and I had to change page size to DIN A4. If you press "Reset all page settings to default" in "Page Settings", it yields to Letter / ANSI A. And to inch instead of centimeter etc.
I don't know if the default settings correlate with the language settings, but I don't think so. When I select German as the language, Letter and American units of measurement are still the default. I can't say what Musescore was like “in the past” (before version 4) either, as I haven't been using it that long.

Why easy/peasy?? Do you believe that it is a common problem? No.
Did you do an PDF Export of your score? I did, it looks ok. You should do an Export and see, if the footer appears. Print that PDF - what happens?
When the footer does not appear in your PDF, then there is something wrong with Musescore. But here (Musescore 4.5.2 / Linux) it looks ok.

The page format was the first suspect.
I had tried to check and I have a couple of doubts: How was it entered? It doesn't seem to be present in File/Properties nor in Format/Style/Footer.
Therefore, it does not seem to be selectable...

It is present. You may have overlooked it.
The odd/left field of Format/Style/Footer contains an "$f" which is the filename (without extension). And it is visible in the exported PDF (i made an Export).
