when i shared two notes between two voices the dotted half notein voice two appears black instead of white.
am i doing something wrong?

I forgot to say that i'm hiding the quarter note in voice one, so that's not the problem.

It's not black, it's grayed out (and it won't print). But you can do the following: menu "View" /
Show / Untick "Show Invisible"
Another solution (apart from the "Visible/Invisible" function) is to go to Properties, select the 8th, "Show more", and use the feature "Override visual duration"

It is not visible in the printout or in the PDF. It is merely a note for you that you have selected “Hide.”
This is intentional for your convenience, so that you can still see the note in edit mode and know that there is a hidden note there.
You can easily check how it will look in the output (print or PDF) by clicking on the “Publish” menu item in the top left corner.
