Can't start Nightly

• Nov 6, 2014 - 05:56

I work with musicscore at an office I volunteer for. I decided to take a nightly build that I was comfortable with, instead of one of the latest versions, and back it up to a flash drive to take home and work on a project there. When I got home, I tried to open it on my computer and this is what it says: see uploaded image.

I tried downloading one of the latest nightly's to see if that worked, and it didn't. Same thing happens. I tried restarting my computer. Nothing. I tried resetting to factory settings using .bat file in nightlybuild\special, but that doesn't work. And I don't have any idea what "-F" refers to, so I couldn't try that. I'm lost. Musescore 1.3 still runs fine. And, I never installed 2.0 on my home computer.

And, yes I know it's a nightly, and that it is most likely going to crash. However, the nightly build works fine on my office computer. So, why shouldn't it at home?

I run Windows 7 at home and at the office.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. It indicates that you are running MuseScore with the black theme which either means you are using a very old nightly build given that the light theme is the default now, either that you have ran another nightly before on this Windows.

My advice:
* Download the very latest nightly build. There is no reason to hold on to an old nightly.
* Revert to factory settings using -F. Here are the instructions: http://musescore.org/en/node/35956

Both versions of the nightly that I tried were released well after the release of Musescore 2.0 Beta, one released on October 5 "1807-d4ec59d" and the other one released today November 5. I haven't changed anything aesthetically in either nightly. Only a couple shortcuts within the program for using hairpins.

However, thank you for the link to explain the reset. Following the instructions there has done the trick and now I have access to the nightly build once again.
