MIDI

I've been trying to get musescore installed on the 20 macs in my classroom at school and while the programme will install fine neither I or my media/music techie can get the soundfonts to install and run. The issue appears to be because the school network doesn't allow students to access the area they are saved in. Is it possible to set musescore to run through general midi? It's the only thing preventing me from not using it with my students, otherwise I have to find the money to buy some other programme!!

Great news! Hope you will enjoy MuseScore since it's not only free but open.
Regarding the soundfont, MuseScore needs to have read access on the soundfont file, so you just need to put it on each mac in a place each student have read access and change the preferences / I/O / SoundFont.
Hope it helps. Feel free to ask more if necessary.
