Changing The Appearance Of Repeat Signs

• Nov 9, 2014 - 20:30

In the prior version, I could highlight a sign and change its appearance, font and size. I can't seam to make that happen with 2.0.

What kind of sign, and how are you trying to do this? Can you post the score you are having problems with and step by step instructions to reproduce the problem?

In general, if you don't like the size of some sort of text in 2.0, the best way to change it is right click / text style. That will change all similar elements at once. If you on;y want to change one, then right click / text properties is usually best. It should also work to double click the text, select all, then up the size in the text toolbar. Although in some older 2.0 builds, I think there was a bug with symbols specifically, so it worked with normal text but not for example the coda sign. This was fixed a few weeks ago, so if you are using an older build, updating would be a good idea. See #35406: Fix note size in Tempo Mark.

Hi Mark. Yes, I was specifically talking about Coda signs. I downloaded the Beta as it was shown on the first page of the forum. I found a number of issues but was unaware current builds are located elsewhere. What link do I click for current builds? And what wording should I look for? Thanks

Been awhile since my last visit to the forum?

Yes, I remember the name, been a while indeed!

See the Download link at top of the menu at right of this page for more download options, including the nightly builds.

This is all still experimental of course - the names "beta" and "nightly" should tip you off. But it is getting closer and closer to being ready for release.

I'm struggling with this. Sometimes I seem to be able to get the MuseJazz font on the sign ('sign' as in D.S.), but sometimes not.

I am right-clicking on the sign symbol and selecting MuseJazz font but it seems to stay in its original appearance (Freeserif?) regardless.

Using the same procedure I did manage to change the appearance of the "D.S. al Fine" and the "Fine" to MuseJazz, but I just can't get the Sign itself to change.

In other scores, I have been able to do it. I can't identify what I am doing differently.

Hard to say for sure unless you attach the score you are having problems with.

in general, if you are using one of the jazz templates, then the segno and pretty much all other text-based symbols should *already* be Musejazz. So I'm guessing you did not choose one of those templates - perhaps because the score was originally created with a much older version of MuseScore from before those templates existed?

Anyhow, if you do for whatever reaosn create a scroe without using one of the Jazz templates but then decide you want it to use MuseJazz for certain text elements anyhow, the "right" way to do this is to immediately go to Style / Text and set the desired styles to MuseJazz. If you want them *all*, definitely consider using the Jazz templates instead.

Once you have set the style correctly, then all repeats should autoamtically get that font. Only exception would be repeats created using an older version. While it's possible to force these into MuseJazz as well, better solution is to simply delete them an re-add them - this will also allow them to be positioned and to play back more correctly than they otherwise might.
