drum notation
I cannot handle the drum staff, whatever I try and whatever I read in the forums
I placed my remarks with C: between the handbook lines in " Drum notation by mouse "
1 Select a note or rest in the percussion staff. This loads the corresponding drum palette.
C: In a new score only rests are availabel or am I mistaken ?
C: Must the drum palette become visible now? ( because I ‘don’t see anything happen)
2: Press "N" to begin note entry
3: Select a note duration from the Note Input toolbar
4: Select a the type of note (such as bass drum or snare) from the drum palette
C: When I try to select an instrument in the drum palette I can’t see what I did select as in Finale
5: Click on the percussion staff to add the note to the score
C: I cannot park the selected note on the staff. The note floats over the lines but cannot land.
I would like to use Musescore, it looks beautiful, but I do need the drums
Hopefully someone can help me out

A new score is full or rest indeed.
You can display the palettes with F9 (on windows) or Display ->palette from the Menu.
Read [Palette]. The drums palette is the second one. Click on "drums" to open it.
To land a note, you need to click on the score.
Which OS are you using? and which MuseScore version?

Thanks for quick reaction.
I'm using version 0.9.5 on a Windows XP computer.
I reinstalled the program and followed you instructions.
Drum pallete looks different now. Before reinstallation an old Finale drum palette popped up in musecore !
Drum palette works and my notes do land now.
Now a soundbank must be found to make playback work I presume?
Thanks,
Richard
